Before a buyer reads your product description, they have already decided how they feel about your brand. Your visuals do that work first.

What the research says

A study by Gitte Lindgaard and colleagues at Carleton University found that people judged a web page's visual appeal within the first 50 milliseconds of seeing it, and those snap judgments matched their views after longer viewing. It was published in Behaviour and Information Technology in 2006 and reported by Nature.

What it means for founders

Great products lose to average ones that look more trustworthy. Inconsistent photos, mixed styles and blurry images send a signal before any words are read.

  • Is every product shot in the same light and style?
  • Does your store look like the same brand as your Instagram?
  • Would a stranger trust it with their card in a glance?
Your content is judged before it is read.
